Goal setting

Click here to read and print a copy of the goal setting guidelines. They will help you when you complete Exercise Five.

You should regularly review all of your goals – at least weekly, but ideally every day. This will only take 5 to 10 minutes a day. Despite the small amount of time required to review goals, it is amazing that many people will find it difficult to comply. Try it out yourself – notice how easy or difficult you find this activity.

We will return to this in Session 2.

Once you have worked through the goal-setting process, you may wish to encourage other people you know to do likewise.

The Yale research shows us that writing down the goals is vitally important – do it and you will reap the benefits.

In his book “Beyond Entrepreneurship: Turning your business into an enduring great company”, James Collins compared organisations with vision against those without it. He found that those organisations with unusually grand goals outperformed their competitors by a factor of 10. It is obvious that goals really do make a difference – for people and companies.
